Dangerosa: Bridging Surrealism and Photorealism in Modern Artistry.

Unravelling the Mystique: Dangerosa’s Fusion of Dreams and Reality at Saatchi Gallery This October

The North England-born artist's captivating works take centre stage at Kei London's Exhibition during this year's StART Art Fair at Saatchi Gallery.

Born as Lisa Terese but better known in the art world as Dangerosa, this British contemporary artist has woven an intricate tapestry of experiences, culture, and unique techniques that come to life in her artworks. Growing up in the industrial North of England, Dangerosa's dual Cypriot and Baltic heritage instilled a rich tapestry of perspectives she would later pour into her creations.

Her early life was a testament to the diversity of inspirations that shaped her - from music, film to mythology. As she delved into different artistic disciplines, the alternative subcultures and rich symbolism would become the most resonant voice in her art, giving it a distinct punk flavour with a surrealistic edge. Her partnership with the group Dolium at just 18 marked the start of many collaborations that would amplify her growing reputation as a force to be reckoned with in the art domain.

Dangerosa's commitment to her craft led her to Huddersfield University, where she honed her skills in animation. After graduating with first-class honours, her journey after that saw her dip her toes in various professional waters before finding her niche as a specialist painter. This was a turning point, giving her the space to master photorealistic techniques whilst cultivating her unique voice. Today, her artworks beautifully merge surrealism with photorealism, peppered with cinematic stories and intricate characterisations that delve into the very essence of humanity.

At the heart of Dangerosa's work is her innate ability to tell stories. Through her pieces, she invites viewers into dream-like narratives painted in her signature contemporary style. Her impressive portfolio boasts music, video and book projects, solo and group exhibitions, features in publications, and bespoke artworks for revered private collectors. Notably, she's also lent her artistic prowess to producing works for industry luminaries such as Sir Michael Craig-Martin, Lakwena, and Damien Hirst.

London is currently home to Dangerosa, where she continues to mesmerise the art community with her unparalleled vision. Those keen to immerse themselves in her latest creations should make a beeline for Kei London's exhibition at this year's StART Art Fair, held at the Saatchi Gallery from 11 to 15 October 2023.
